JACOBS TRANSPORT FROM GENK BUYS SECTOR COLLEAGUE CV SERVICE

Jacobs Transport has taken over sector colleague CV Service from Houthalen-Helchteren. This is the first acquisition for the Genk-based company, which has experienced strong organic growth in recent years. Both companies complement each other well.

The fifteen employees and the fleet of CV Service – consisting of thirteen trucks and twenty trailers – are being taken over in full. For Jacobs Transport, the acquisition means a growth to fifty trucks and more than ninety trailers and chassis. The activities of CV Service will be continued for the time being under the current company name.

Jacobs Transport from Genk (not to be confused with Jacobs Logistics from Tongeren) has been experiencing hefty growth for several years now. This year, the company came in third in the ‘Gazelles Transport and Logistics’ in the medium-sized company category (up to 10 million euros). The growth so far has been organic.

According to the company, this acquisition “represents a unique opportunity for sustainable growth and offers economies of scale for both companies. Jacobs Transport and CV Service are complementary, which is positive for personnel, clients and suppliers. Also, the similarity of corporate culture and strategy of both organizations is very high,” it reads.

Jacobs Transport consists of two divisions (goods transport and coaches). The transport branch is mainly active in Germany, Benelux and northern France. The clients are mostly active in the automotive sector.

Since a management buyout in 2008, the company has been owned by Bart Tilmans and Francis Paulussen, who respectively run the transport activities and passenger transport.
